Learn what a core messaging doc is and how to complete it.
Q: What is a Core Messaging Doc?
A document that outlines the key, essential messages a company wants to communicate about its brand, product, or service.
Why is it important?
Our job is to help your clients clarify their message. You as a consultant should be able to explain exactly what your client does in a very simple way. If you can't, go do some more research!
Marketing is all about knowing the brand, knowing your audience, crafting a strategic message and then repeating that message to them over and over again.
TIP: Anytime a new team member jumps on a client project, have them review the Core Messaging Doc to make sure they are clear on the client.
DO IT: Create a Brand Messaging doc.
👇Use the template "Client Core Messaging Doc" in the Template Gallery👇
- It is a Google Doc listed under "Basics" - This should already be in your client folder but if it's not, make sure to add it.
If you need a refresher on how to access the Template Gallery check out the KB Article "How to Access the Template Gallery"
Use the template to create a comprehensive "Client Brand Messaging Doc"
- Refer to the "New Client Questionnaire" and notes from your "Core Messaging Meeting" to complete this task.
- Change the name of document to say "(CLIENT NAME) Core Messaging Document" an use their branding colors.
- The document has guidelines for what you should write in each section.
- The "Positioning - Strategy" section is where you will need to get more strategic about what to add and might take some additional research or brainstorming with your team.
DO IT: Once you have finished your Messaging doc, make sure to review it with another member of Greenhouse and with Josh (Content Writer).
