Part of an optimized Google Business Profile is how prominent it is online (see local SEO basics). This means Google trusts sites that have a web presence beyond their own site. We help businesses get more prominent by adding them to "online directories"—websites like Yelp or Yellowpages that simply list basic business information. When a Google Business Profile is added to an online directory, it creates a citation. More citations = more trustworthiness = greater prominence.
It is vitally important that key information listed in your Google Business Profile is exactly the same on every site. This "key information" is NAP (Name, Address, and Phone Number). Since Google bots crawl online directories and link business profiles to their citations, any variance—from capitalization to punctuation—will affect how Google bots perform this linking. As a result, even minor errors can dramatically affect local optimization.
